September 2006What
are your plans for the week-end? You
will be going to the Hovawart Club of Great Britain Show of course! It is being
held this year again at the Oswestry Showground. If you are interested in the
hovawart, it is the place to go this week-end. The Hovawart club show is the biggest
gathering of hovawart in the UK. This is your chance to see black, blond and black
& gold hovawart all together, to compare males and females and to meet puppies
as well as veterans. There is no fee for visitors so please come along. It is
always such a lovely day with a variety of exhibitors, from absolute beginners
to seasoned showers having a go in the breed classes and in the obedience competition.
There
were hovawart classes on Saturday 16 September at Darlington and our judge was
Mrs Valerie Foss. Her best of breed went to Julie Condrons blond bitch Hofwarth
Dewytch. Reserve best bitch also went to a blond girl as it was awarded to Ann
Travis Annvad Carefree Princess. Best dog went to Minches Jason and best
puppy to Tyehelva Super Summer. Ann
Travis had also entered the rare breed class with Pines Tipperary who was awarded
best of breed by judge Mrs D Kenis-Pordham. She had judged the breed the week
before at Richmond Championship show. I had the chance to read the critiques she
wrote after Richmond and she took the time to provide very detailed comments for
the first 3 dogs of each class so it makes interesting reading for the exhibitors.
This makes up for the small entry and I hope everybody though it was well worth
entering their dogs and that we will have more entries next year. |
